Whispers in the Dark

Whispers in the Dark - Maya Banks Whispers in the Dark was not anywhere near what I've come to expect from Maya Banks and KGI but over all it still made for a good read.

The suspense in the novel was spot on and who doesn't love the whole Kelly family? Their interaction really made the story for me.
Shea and Nathan, the H/h of the story, were a weak spot. Their whole relationship was just too lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy. I couldn't buy into it. Then Ms. Banks threw in a huge supernatural aspect between them that I really wasn't expecting with this series that over-took the entire plot. Don't get me wrong, mixing genre's sometimes is great, but in this instance it just didn't work for me. I think this is a case of where the author should have taken into account these famous words; if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm a little apprehensive about where the series will lead next but will stick with it, no doubt about that. I mean, this is Maya Banks we're talking about here so I will read just about anything she puts out. :)

Whispers in the Dark was not my favorite in the series, I'm not going to lie, but still made for a good read and kept me turning the pages. If you're a fan of the series I recommend it though don't be surprised if it doesn't wow you like the rest of the series has. New readers, start at the beginning. Believe me, you don't want to miss the Kelly's!
